Abstract
En los suelos de la cuenca media del Ebro con problemas de salinidad edáfica predominan los cereales
de invierno, principalmente la cebada, cultivo tolerante a sequía y salinidad. En este trabajo se estudia la
utilidad del NDVI derivado de imágenes Landsat para discriminar fases salinas del suelo en parcelas de
cebada, como posible herramienta para identificación y vigilancia de la salinidad edáfica. En nueve parcelas
de cebada de Huesca y Navarra con diferente grado de afección por salinidad edáfica, se analiza la evolución
del NDVI medio ( NDVI ) a lo largo del ciclo de cultivo y el NDVI en cuatro categorías salinas:
superficies no salinas (conductividad eléctrica del extracto de pasta saturada, CEe < 4 dS m-1), ligeramente
salinas (4 dS m-1 ≤ CEe ≤ 8 dS m-1), moderadamente salinas (8 dS m-1 < CEe < 16 dS m-1) y fuertemente
salinas (CEe ≥ 16 dS m-1). Las mayores diferencias entre el NDVI de parcelas salinas y no salinas se
detectan principalmente en abril. Se corrobora que el NDVI disminuye conforme aumenta la salinidad
edáfica. Prácticamente no hay diferencias significativas entre el NDVI de superficies no salinas y ligeramente
salinas; se detecta una cierta disminución, más o menos acusada según parcelas, en el NDVI en
superficies moderadamente salinas, y una disminución relevante y significativa en superficies fuertemente
salinas.
In the central basin of the Ebro River salt-affected soils are predominantly occupied with winter cereals, mainly barley, which is a crop tolerant to drought and salinity. This work studies the utility of NDVI derived from Landsat images for discriminating soil salinity phases in barley fields, as a possible tool for identification and surveillance of soil salinity. The evolution of mean NDVI ( NDVI ) along the growing season and the NDVI in four soil salinity classes (non-saline, electrical conductivity of the soil saturation extract, ECe < 4 dS m-1; slightly saline, 4 dS m-1 ≤ ECe ≤ 8 dS m-1; moderately saline, 8 dS m-1 <ECe < 16 dS m-1; and strongly saline, ECe ≥ 16 dS m-1) were analyzed in nine barley fields with different degree of soil salinity, located in Huesca and Navarra. The highest differences between NDVI of saline and non-saline fields are detected in April. It is corroborated that NDVI decreases as soil salinity increases. Practically, there are not significant differences between NDVI of non saline and slightly saline areas; a certain decrease, more or less marked depending on parcels, is detected on NDVI for moderately saline areas, and a relevant and significant decrease on NDVI for strongly saline areas.
